1. Born: April 23, 1858
2. Birthplace: Kiel, Germany
3. His father was a professor of Constitutional Law in the University of Kiel
4. Aside from being a physicist, he was an excellent pianist, with the gift of absolute pitch.
5. At age 17, he was so good in many of his, he initially had some difficulty choosing a career in college.
6. At the age of 21, he received his doctoral degree, which was unusual at that time.
7. A part of the moon, called "Crater Plank", was named after him.
8. The Nazi regime executed his second son for the latter's involvement in a plot to assassinate Hitler.
9. Planck openly opposed Nazi persecutions, especially of Jewish scientists.
