Matthew Broderick

Matthew Broderick is a Tony award-winning American film and stage actor who rose to fame as the clever high-school slacker in the John Hughes 1980s classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He made his debut in the 1983 film Max Dungan Returns. His first major film role was later that year in WarGames which was a hit in 1983. Broderick's career has received critical acclaim both on screen and on stage, receiving considerable praise as Leo Bloom in Broadway's The Producers.

In 2008, he signed on to star in the Broadway play The Philanthropist by Christopher Hampton. The production opens in the spring of 2009.¹
