Guide Note: Marvis Frazier, is a retired professional boxer and son of fomer heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier. His sister Jackie Frazier-Lyde entered women's professional boxing at the age of 38. His brother Joe Frazier Jr. was also a professional boxer. During his amateur career, Frazier defeated noteworthy opponents Tim Witherspoon and Bonecrusher Smith. Frazier suffered an amateur loss when he was knocked out by James Broad. Frazier also won the United States Amateur Heavyweight Championship. During his professional career, Frazier fought Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson. Both fights resulted in first round defeats by knockouts. There was much debate as to whether Frazier was thrown into professional boxing too early by his father and trainer Joe Frazier, whom was openly criticized for turning Frazier into a puncher instead of a fighter. Those were Frazier's only two professional defeats. After a successful professional career, Frazier now offers spiritual support to others as a Pentecostal Minister. Frazier is active in the Prision Fellowship Ministries.
