Synopsis
Set from the 1940s to the 1970s, Marvels showcases the rise of superheroes in the Marvel Universe through the eyes of an everyman, Phil Sheldon.
Sheldon, a photojournalist, reminisces about the first "marvels" Human Torch and Namor in Issue #1, then takes readers through the "mutant scare" that included the X-Men and Fantastic Four in Issue #2.
Issue #3 depicted the arrival of Galactus, who nearly doomed Earth with his presence, forcing Sheldon to reexamine the value of his own life.
In Issue #4, his faith in the marvels takes a downturn upon witnessing Spider-Man's failure to save Gwen Stacy. Unsure of the future, Sheldon retires and passes his work onto his assistant, Marcie.
