Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is an action role-playing title developed by Raven Software, Vicarious Visions, Beenox Studios, and Barking Lizards Technologies. The game has been published by Activision for multiple platforms including the PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PSP. Over twenty Marvel Comic characters can be selected on each platform with several more making exclusive appearances on various consoles; Black Widow, for example, is only playable on the PSP while Jean Grey is exclusive to the GBA version.

In his latest attempt to conquer the world, Dr. Doom has forged an alliance with several Marvel supervillains. Dubbing themselves The Masters of Evil, they set forth invading cities and realms beyond, tearing a path of destruction along the way. In response to the increasingly frequent attacks, S.H.I.E.L.D. begins to recruit others heroes to help turn the tide back.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is a dungeon crawling, beat-em-up with a light RPG element. When players engage in combat or level their characters, they will net points, which can be used to increase stats or learn/upgrade different abilities. Helpful items and equipment can also be found throughout the game by defeating bosses.
