Marty Brennaman

Guide Note

Marty Brennaman is a longtime radio sportscaster for Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds.

Brennaman succeeded Al Michaels as play-by-play announcer for the Reds in 1974. Brennaman was paired with announcer and former Reds player Joe Nuxhall. The team of "Marty and Joe" became a Cincinnati staple. They called nearly every game together for decades and appeared in several radio and television commercials.

Brennaman called Hank Aaron's 714th career home run, Pete Rose's 4,192nd career hit, Tom Browning's perfect game, and Ken Griffey Jr.'s 500th career home run. Brennaman also called the Reds' World Series victories in 1975, 1976, and 1990.
