We Are Marshall
On November 14, 1970, the Marshall football team was returning to West Virginia after a game against the East Carolina Pirates, when their plane fell short of the airport and crashed. All 75 people on board, including players and coaches were killed. After much talk of suspending the school's football program, they decided to persevere and continued to play. The story was honored in a 2006 film, We Are Marshall, starring Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox.
