NHL Career

Rycroft joined the NHL by signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues on May 15, 2000. He was assigned to the Worcester IceCats in the AHL and was called up for nine games with the Blues during the 2001-02 season. Rycroft earned a full roster spot with the Blues in 2003, then played in France for the HC Briancon during the 2004-05 NHL lockout. He returned to the Blues after the lockout and played one additional season before he signed with the Colorado Avalanche on July 12, 2006. In 2007, the Avalanche assigned Rycroft to the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL. He played there until January 22, 2008, when he was sent to the Columbus Blues Jackets and placed with the Syracuse Crunch, also in the AHL.
