Marion Jones Released
Former United States Olympic track star Marion Jones was released from a prison in Texas on September 5, 2008. Jones had been sentenced to six months in prison for lying to federal agents about using the anabolic steroid THG. Jones made the false statements in 2003 about not using the performance enhancing drug before the Olympics in 2000.1
Jones continued to deny charges, even going so far as to file a defamation lawsuit against the founder of BALCO in 2004. Jones finally admitted guilt in 2007.2
She was sentenced in January of 2008 and began her prison stay in March of 2008.1
Jones remains on probation following her release.2
