"Touch My Body" was released in the United States on April 1, 2008 and quickly shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100--her 18th, which placed her only second to The Beatles at the time of its release.

The music video for the single, directed by Brett Ratner, featured Jack McBrayer (from 30 Rock) as a computer repairman who fantasized about wooing Carey as she sang the song.

While some critics disliked the production, which focussed more on hooks than it did singing, the song garnered generally positive reviews. Fans did not seem to care: "Touch My Body" was downloaded over 280,000 times in its first week.
