Margherita Granbassi
Margherita Granbassi was a member of the national team of Italy at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She participated in the individual and team competitions in fencing. Granbassi is also known for her modeling career. She has been referred to as one of the most beautiful Olympians in magazines such as "Marie Claire" and "Paris Match."1

2008 Olympics
Three Italians reached the semi-finals of the women's individual foil fencing competition. Granbassi, the winner of the Gold medal at the 2006 world championships was considered the favorite. In the semi-finals Granbassi faced fellow team member Maria Valentina Vezzali, but lost. In the bronze medal match she defeated teammate Giovanna Trillini. It was the second Olympic bronze medal of Granbassi's career.2 She also won a bronze at the 2004 Olympics at Athens.
