The Magellan 4040 is a portable GPS device with a 4.3" display with bluetooth functions. Magellan's Maestro 4040 is Magellan's first widescreen GPS and is the predecessor to the voice-controlled Magellan Maestro 4050.1

Laptop Magazine gave the Magellan Maestro 4040 3.5 out of 5 stars, praising the vast improvement of the 4040 over previous Magellan GPS navigators. Drawbacks were a lack of MP3 or photo features, which the critic felt should have been included, judging by the price.3
PC Magazine also gave the Magellan Maestro 4040 3.5 out of 5 stars, analyzing some of 4040's interactive features, such as SayWhere, which enables the GPS device to pronounce street names and other landmarks.4
