CNET's editors gave the 3100 a six out of 10, while CNET's users gave the device a 7.2. The pluses are that it's affordable and has all the straightforward features a first-time user would need.

The negatives were that the functionality of the 3100 was sometimes a bit clunky—it froze on the reviewers once and got stuck while navigating at another point. Overall, CNET says this device is "good" but users could get better performance out of other models.
