Guide Note:

MLB 08: The Show is a baseball game developed by SCEA. It is available in North America for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. A new version of the game is released annually with new features and updated rosters. Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard is the cover of the game, and the announces are Rex Hudler, Matt Vasgersian and Dave Campbell. The game received very high ratings from video game critics.

Gameplay:

Most of the features in MLB 08: The Show have been enhanced. The Road to the Show mode, the biggest feature in the game, has been changed to be much deeper and more immersive. As with last year's version, players start off trying to make the major leagues. There are new career goals and situational tasks specific to a position in the field. In online play, players can save their personalized game setting and use those to find online opponents quicker. In the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable versions, players can add personal music through a memory stick (PSP) or hard drive (PS3) called "My MLB Music." Also added to the game is the Replay Vault. Players can create a highlight reel of offensive and defensive plays. Players can also view a highlight by team, player or inning.

Name changes:

Due to the MLB Players Union contract, several players are named differently in the game because they were replacement players in the 1994 strike, separated themselves from the union, or were not in the union by the time the game was produced.
