Former Mansion Family member Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975. She is serving a life sentence for her crime.
Following a difficult childhood, Fromme would up homeless and suffering from depression in Venice Beach, where she met Charles Manson. They became friends and travelled with other "family" members including Mary Brunner and Susan Atkins. Fromme's association with Manson ended when he was arrested for the Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969.
On the morning of September 5, 1975, Fromme went to Sacramento's Capitol Park with a .45 Colt semi-automatic. She pointed the gun at President Ford and was immediately arrested by Secret Service agents.
Seventeen days after Fromme's assassination attempt, Sara Jane Moore made an attempt on Ford's life in San Francisco.
