Lucky Luciano
Lucky Luciano was born on November 24, 1897, in Sicily, Italy. He found success as a Mafia crime leader by procuring and selling alcohol during the Prohibition. In an attempt to rid New York City of organized crime, Special Prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey charged Luciano with compulsory prostitution. In June 1936, he was convicted and imprisoned. After Luciano's release from prison, he was deported to Italy, and died there on January 26, 1962.
