Lostprophets

Guide Note: Emerging from the South Wales hardcore scene in 2000, the Lostprophets signed on with the Visible Noise record label. The band had released several demo records while touring the U.K. Toilet Circuit as Lozt Prophetz. They had caught the attention of Visible Noise when Kerrang magazine featured their demo and they received high reviews.

Early Career

Lostprophets formed in 1997 as the Lozt Prophetz. Founded by two members from Public Disturbance, Ian Watkins and Mike Lewis. Ian Watkins left Public Disturbance in 1998 while Mike Lewis remained until after the band signed a record deal in 2000.

The band had started out experimenting with music with a mix of ska, rap and later adding an aggressive style of rock. They eventually stopped using rap and emerged into an alternative and metal rock band. The band also changed their name from Lozt Profitz to Lostprophets which is a name they had chosen from a bootlegged copy of a Duran Duran concert.

Mid- Career

After signing with Visible Noise in 2000, the band released their debut album The Fake Sound of Progress. The band began being courted by U.S. record labels and decided to go with Columbia Records to release their album in U.S. The album was re-mastered and re-released in 2001.

After a long album tour, the band took a short break and then began to write for their next album and in 2004 they released Start Something. The album had endure several delays and the band had to cancel several commitments so that they could complete the album. The album ranked number four on the UK Album Charts and certified Gold.

In 2006, the band released their third album, Liberation Transmission which was their first album to reach number one on the UK Album Charts. With this album the band went more contemporary, fleeing away from the hardcore.

Current Career

Currently the band is working to release their fourth album which will be out by Summer of 2008. Kerrang has released that "It's Not the End of the World But I Can See It From Here" is the title track.
