Singer, songwriter and actress Lisa Loeb had a huge success in the 1990s with her number one hit song "Stay (I Missed You). She was discovered by friend and actor Ethan Hawke who passed the tape of the single along to Ben Stiller while he was making the film Reality Bites. The song was featured on the soundtrack for the movie. The unsigned star went on to make a video, directed by Hawke, featuring just Loeb and her cat in her bare New York City apartment singing the star. The simple video was an MTV hit.
