Limas Sweed

Limas Sweed, who was born in Texas, is a football wide receiver who played for the Texas Longhorns, and is considered to be one of the top 20 2008 draft picks. He played for the Longhorns from 2004, until a wrist injury ended his college career in 2007, after six games. He received surgery in October of 2007, so he is eligible for the 2008 draft.

Sweed played for head coach Glen West at Brenham High School in Texas. As a sophmore, he recorded eighty nine tackles and three interceptions. Sweed lettered three times as a wide receiver, and four times in track. In 2002, Sweed helped lead his high school team to a 14-2 record which took them to the championship game. Sweed had a total of 72 catches in three seasons, and touchdowns were made out of 31 of them.

Sweed started 39 of the 43 games that he played at the University of Texas, where he made a total of 124 catches for total yards of 1,915 with 20 touchdowns. In 2006, his 12 touchdown catches tied the season record that was set by Roy Williams in 2002, and finished his career fifth on the schools record list.

Sweed has been rated as the best wide receiver in college football by ESPN, and one the nations top 25 draft prospects. He is expected to be one of the first selected on the first day for the draft on April 26th.
