Lily Allen

Lily Allen, daughter of British comedian Keith Allen, burst onto the UK music scene in 2006 with her hit single "Smile." It reached number one on the UK singles chart in July 2006. She released her debut album, Alright, Still, in December of that same year. It was nominated for Best British Album and Best New Artist, and was also nominated for "Best Alternative Music Album" for the 2008 Grammy Awards.

Allen's popularity has grown due in part to her MySpace page. She has been posting demo songs since November of 2005. Since she began the page her songs have been downloaded from it over 19 million times. Fans also often check out her page to read her personal blog; she has won the 2008 NME Award in the category of "Best Band Blog" for it.

Allen's other hit songs from her debut album include "LDN," "Littlest Things" and "Shame for You." She has also been featured in the Mark Ronson song "Oh My God" and the Common song, "Drivin' Me Wild."
