The family becomes divided when Samuel, against his father's wishes, enlists in the Canadian army to fight in World War I and his two brothers join him. After Samuel dies in battle, Alfred and Tristan return home and soon find themselves at odds as they compete for the heart of Samuel's bereaved fiancee.
