Lane Kiffin Fired
Oakland Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin was fired by the team on September 30, 2008, after starting the season with a 1-3 record. The Raiders were 5-15 during Kiffin's tenure as coach. Offensive line coach Tom Cable will take over head coaching duties.1 Kiffin, who was told he would not be paid the remaining salary left on his contract, has filed a grievance in an attempt to regain the lost pay.2
