Lance Armstrong Comeback
Lance Armstrong is making a comeback and will return to professional cycling to compete in the 2009 Tour de France. Reports that he will make a comeback on the Astana Racing Team were confirmed on September 24, 2008.1 He has won the prestigious Tour de France bike race seven times throughout his career. Besides the Tour de France, Armstrong will also compete in the Tour de Georgia, Amgen Tour of California, the Dauphine-Libere and the Paris-Nice. The story was first reported by VeloNews on September 8, 2008. On September 18, 2008, Armstrong turned 37 years old. 2
On November 18, 2008, Armstrong stated that if he returns to the Tour as planned, he fears for his personal safety during the race. Armstrong feels there is a lot of resentment towards him in France due to negative press.3
Armstrong has stated on several occasions that his return to cycling is to raise cancer awareness. But some critics believe that Armstrong has returned to prove that he raced clean during his historic run.4
