Lakeview Terrace Reviews
Upon its release, Lakeview Terrace received mixed reviews by critics, earning a 42% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Dennis Harvey for Variety thought the film provided "fairly tense and engrossing drama," but "succumbed" to formulaic "thriller convention."1
Sura Wood of The Hollywood Reporter also thought Lakeview Terrace "rapidly [descended] into caricature," stating the script did not "add up" in the end.2
Roger Ebert, on the other hand, gave Lakeview a full four stars, finding it "alive and provoking." Ebert found the "moral choices" director Neil LaBute put each of the film's characters through "ingenious," but did point out that the movie may be too "challenging" for some to enjoy.3
