La Perla
La Perla was a clandestine prison used by the Argentine government during the "dirty war" against supposed dissidents and subversives between 1976-1983. The leaders of the country at that time were a military junta which snatched power from Isabel Peron in 1976. She had taken the power after the death of her husband Juan Peron in 1974.1
On July 24, 2008, an Argentine court sentenced eight men, including ex-general Luciano Menendez, to jail terms for the killing of four leftists during the "dirty war." The four men were held and tortured at La Perla for a month before being killed.1
