(8:00PM): The show starts with the regular intro followed by the pyro. There's going to be an 8-man tag match tonight, plus the three presidential candidates will be addressing the fans. The match between Clinton and Obama is also still on.

(8:02): Lilian is in the ring to introduce the first match in the 2008 King of the Ring. Chris Jericho's Music hits and he heads to the ring. His opponent is MVP.

Chris Jericho vs. MVP

(8:06): Bell rings and the match begins. The two go back and forth until Jericho is thrown to the outside. Back in the ring, MVP with a choke hold. Jericho counters with some chops, but MVP eventually counters. Several near falls followed by a big kick to Jericho for a two count.

Jericho is now in control of the US Champ. MVP hits a kneebuster and goes for a corner splash, but Jericho dodges and takes MVP down with a bulldog. Jericho tries a lionsault but misses. MVP tries his finisher, but Jericho gets him in the walls of Jericho. MVP taps and Jericho advances to the next round.

Jericho goes up to the king's throne on the stage and tries it on for size. CM Punk is backstage getting ready for his match.

Winner: Chris Jericho

(8:16): The next KOR match is about to begin. CM Punk is the first one out with his Money in the Bank briefcase. He'll be facing off againts Matt Hardy.

CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy

(8:18): The bell rings and they lock up. Elbow shots by Punk to Hardy followed by a swinging neckbreaker. Punk going for covers early before slapping on a headlock. Hardy tries to break it but Punk reestablishes position. Punk now delivering knees to Hardy in the corner. Hardy is now perched on the top rope and goes hits a double ax handle. Bulldog is reversed by Punk who hits one of his own. He gets a two count. Punk tries a springboard, but Hardy counters into the side effect and almost gets a three. Hardy tries a twist of fate, countered into a GTS, which gets reversed, leading to Punk rolling up Matt for the three count.

Winner: CM Punk

Punk also goes to sit on the throne. They show a graphic of the KOR bracket. The remaining participants are still a mystery.

(8:27): They show a simulation from the Smackdown vs Raw video game with Obama taking on Hillary. Obama has an early advantage, but Hillary fights back. Apparently there is no winner.

Next are highlights from last weeks triple threat match with Triple H, Orton, and JBL. JBL cuts a recorded promo for the match at Sunday's Backlash fatal four way. He says he will rise to victory, just like he rose as a high school athlete and financial analyst for CNN. He also plugs his energy drink.

(8:31): Time for the next tournament match. The Great Khali makes his way out. He takes a seat on the throne as we go to commercial.

(8:35): After the break we see the recap of Khali and Big Show from last Smackdown. Finlay is his opponent.

Kahli vs. Finlay

Khali starts on offense, manhandling Finlay. Finlay tries to come back, but Finlay takes him down again. Honwswoggle gets in the ring, but Finlay gets him out of harm's way. Hornswoggle crawls under the ring. Khali drags Finlay to the corner and sends his knee into the post. Khali continues to slam Finlay's knee into the ring post and is disqualified by the referee. Big Show's music hit and he walks to the ring looking none too happy. Khali backs aways and keeps his distance on the outside of the ring. Show is challenging him to enter the ring, but Khali wants none of it and head up the ramp.

Winner: Finlay

(8:45): After the break, officials are helping Finlay to the back. William Regal makes his way to the ring to compete in the next match of the KOR. His opponent is.... Hornswoggle!

Regal vs. Hornswoggle

The bell rings and Regals tackles Hornswoggle, putting him in the Regal stretch. Hornswoggle immediately submits. Finlay comes back to help Horns. Regal then kicks Finlay in his injured knee. Finlay leaves while Finlay and Hornswoggle writhe in pain.

Winner: William Regal

Shawn Michaels is out back and on his way to the arena.

(8:52): Footage from the European tour with Superstars interacting with fans.

Back in the arena, Shawn Michaels makes hit way out to the ring in his street clothes. He grabs the mic and talk about his match with Batista. He has one questions he wants to ask him face to face, so he invites Batista out to the ring. Batista's music hits and here he comes.

HBK asks Batista if he wanted to be the man to face Ric Flair at WrestleMania. Batista says this is not about Flair and it's about the two of them. He says he's sick of talking about it, but that at Backlash he is going to finish it. Michaels says he appreciates his honesty and confesses that he is everything Batista says he is; the showstopper, Mr. WrestleMania, The Man, etc. He says the blood is on his hands from all the collateral damage. He wants Batista to know that he will stop at nothing to win at Backlash. He wishes Batista good luck and says he's gonna need it. They shake hands, but Batista pulls Michaels back as he tries to leave. They stare each other down and Batista slowly walks out of the ring. They continue to have a stare down as Batista walks up the ramp.

Up next is the 8-man tag match featuring Triple H, Cena, Undertaker, and Kane vs. Chavo, JBL, Edge, and Orton. Yet another promo for the Candidates.

(9:06): We're back with Hillary Clinton's video. She says tonight she is known as Hillrod. She uses several wrestling slogans like using the people's elbow. She's also ready to rumble.

Hardcore Holly makes his way to the ring being accompanied by Cody Rhodes. Carlito is out next with Santino.

Hardcore Holly vs. Carlito

(9:09): That's the bell and Holly and Carlito lock up. Hip toss by Carlito followed by body slam from Holly. Holly delivers kicks to Calito in the corner. Carlito hits a sideslam on Holly and gets a two. Dropkick from Carlito for another two count.

The two start exchanging stiff shots, Holly hits a clothesline followed by a nice dropkick. Holly's back is hurting, but he lands a hard kick to Carlito's midsections. Holly goes for the Alabama Slam, but his back gives out and Carlito hits the backcracker for the victory.

Santino says they better get used to this feeling. He says it is a matter of time before they put the tag titles around their bellies, or wastes. Cody then tells Santino to shut up and hits him with the microphone. He and Holly proceed to clear the ring of Santino and Carlito.

Winner: Carlito

(9:20): We're back with promos for Backlash this sunday. Triple H cuts his taped promo about the title match. He goes on to say that he will be the one to take the title and that the rest will have to prove him wrong.

Next is a second round KOR tournament match.

Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk

(9:22): Jericho is out first followed by Punk. The bell rings and the two men lock up. Jericho gets a headlock and a takedown. They exchange take downs and counters. Punk with some kicks to Jericho. Y2J then hangs Punk out to dry on the ropes. Punk tries to springboard but Jericho scouts it and hits a dropkick to the ropes. Punk comes back now with a kick and a clothesline. Jericho hits a hurricanrana and they exchange near falls. Jericho tries for the Walls but is countered. Powerslam by punk good for a two count. Punk gets Jericho up for the GTS, but Jericho counters into a bulldog. Jericho tries a lionsault, Punk gets the knees up, but Jericho lands on his feet (looks like hit boot hit Punk in the face). Jericho locks in the Walls, but Punk makes it to the ropes. The hold is broken and the crows boos. Jericho goes up top but is caught with a kick to the head. Punk hits the Go to Sleep on Jericho and gets the victory. The crowd seems surprised and disappointed.

Winner: CM Punk

One slot remains to face CM Punk for the KOR Finals.

(9:36): Time to hear from Senator Barack Obama. Do you smell what Barack is cookin? He sounds a lot like The Rock.

Regal is out to the ring for his next match. Finlay's limps his way out with a wrap on his left knee.

Regal vs. Finlay

(9:39): Regal tries to go for Finlay's knee and take him down. Finlay counters with a flip and they go outside. Regal sends Finlay into the ring steps knee first. Back in the ring, Regal goes to work on Finlay's knee. Finlay starts fighting back and send Regal into the corner ring post. Finlay hits a body drop and gets a two. Finlay hits a knee lift followed by a backslide for two. Regal hits a knee to the head of Finlay. Regal puts on the Regal Stretch. Finlay looks out of it and the ref calls for the bell. Regal advances to the finals.

Winner: William Regal

Regal and CM Punk will face each other in the finals to see who will be the King of the Ring.

McCain's video is up next.

(9:47): John McCain's video airs. He says that if you wanna be the man, you have to beat the man. It'll be game over in November. He uses by far the most wrestling slogans in his promo. So many I can't write them all. You can watch all three videos [here.

Promos for the rest of Backlash followed by John Cena's taped Backlash promo. He makes fun of JBL and says that the other men will have to go through him to win the title and that he will make them earn it. He's "locked, loaded, and ready to bring down the thunder."

The Obama vs. Hillary match is next. This will be interesting to say the least.

(9:57): A promo is shown for WWE's various community and youth reading promotions.

Clinton vs. Obama

And now the moment we've been waiting for/dreading. Lilian introduces "Hillary Clinton". She comes out to Hulk Hogan's music accompanied by husband "Bill". Bill has some trouble with the ring ropes and gets tangles. Hillary and Bill do some Hogan poses. Hillary starts talking and Bill keeps posing, trying to steal the spotlight. Hillary tells him to get out of the way and she continues with her Hogan esque speech. The crowd boos, as they should.

"Barack Obama" is out next to The Rock's theme. The actor has big, prosthetic ears on. He shakes hands on his way down the aisle. He goes through all the Rock poses and it actually pretty good. He says "finally, Barack has come back to South Carolina." Bill starts to talk and Barack tells him it doesn't matter what he thinks. He then does the "If ya small what Barack is cookin.'"

The ref inspects both "combatants" and the bell rings. Hillary takes down Barack, followed by a kick and a bodyslam. She gets a two count, Barack lands a kick and sets her up for a Barack Bottom. He hits it and now goes for the people's elbow. He hits the ropes but is tripped by Slick Willy. Both candidates are down and the ref begins to count. Suddenly Umaga's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. The ref has called for the bell. Umaga grabs Obama and hits a Samoan spike. Bill tries to talk to Umaga, but gets scared and takes off running. Umaga then grabs Hillary and picks her, hitting a Samoan drop. Umaga stands in the ring with both opponents laid out. The crowd seems to approve of Umaga's actions.

(10:14): We're back with a replay of what just happened. Maybe Umaga is running for president now.

Maria is out next with a handful of the face divas: Michelle, Ashley, Cherry, and Kelly. They show highlights from Mickie James' title victory over the Glamazon. Mickie then comes in an all black version of her wrestling attire. Maria says they want to congratulate her for her win. Mickie starts talking, but is quickly interrupted by Beth Phoenix and the heel divas. Beth says that it's only a matter of time until she wins her title back. She also calls the face divas inferior. Michelle steps in and slaps Beth. A brawl breaks out and the heel divas are thrown from the ring.

Next is the finals of the King of the Ring.

(10:25): A promo airs for Mr. Kennedy to return to Raw next week. He was rumored back this week. Oh well. Regal is on his way to the ring. CM Punk is next.

Regal vs. CM Punk

The bell sounds and Regals starts off aggressively with rights and lefts. Punk now hitting boots to the head of Regal, followed by a running knee in the corner. Regal hits a backdrop and puts Punk in an arm stretch.

Punk finally gets out and lands a hard kick to the head. More kicks and Regal goes down. Punk gets a two count. Punk tries a GTS, but Regal counters and tries for the Regal Stretch. Punk tries to fight but Regal locks it in. Punk finally taps and Regals wins the match and the King of the Ring! I never would've guessed.

Regal takes his place on the throne and we go to commercial.

8-Man Tag Match

(10:37): Randy Orton is out first. He grabs the mic and talks about the match at Backlash. You know, the typical stuff. JBL is out next and emerges from the limo. Then Chavo, then Edge, then... commercial.

(10:48): And we're back. Edge, JBL, Orton, and Chavo await their opponents. First out is Triple H, followed by Cena and Kane.

The lights go out and the bell toles as The Undertaker makes his usual entrance to the ring. JR points out that there are 31 total world championships between the match participants.

(10:54): The bell rings and Edge starts off against Taker. Taker hits the ropes and lands a big flying clothesline. He follows it up immediately with old school. Taker nails the others on the ring apron and we go to more commercials.

(10:57): Back with Edge and Triple H in the ring. Edge tries a spear but Triple H counters into a spinebuster. Triple H gets the tag to Cena and Cena lights up Edge. He goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Chavo pulls the rope and Cena goes to the outside. Orton is now in, going to work on Cena. JBL is tagged in and goes after Cena. Hard lariat by JBL for a two count. Edge is tagged back in and lands kicks to Cena. Cena tries to fight back but is met with a boot. Orton is tagged in and locks in a vicious headlock on Cena. Both men try for a clothesline and both go down.

Cena finally makes a tag to Kane. Kane hits anything that moves, hitting Chavo with a sidewalk slam, followed by a clothesline from the top rope. All hell breaks lose and Chavo hits a tornado DVD on Kane. Chavo jumps from the top but is caught with a chokslam on Chavo. Edge immediately hits a spear on Kane and pins him for three.

Cena comes in and hits the FU on Edge. Triple H then gets in the ring and they go at it. Cena tries an FU, but is countered into a pedigree, but JBL hits a clothesline on Triple H. Orton slips in and RKOs Cena. Orton and JBL are now face to face when Undertaker comes in and chokeslams both of them. Undertaker stands in the middle of the ring as everyone else lay motionless. Taker's music hits and the lights dim as the show goes off the air.
