NFL Career
Kevin Kolb was drafted out of the University of Houston by the Eagles in 2007. The Eagles took Kolb in the second round, despite already having two veteran backup quarterbacks in A.J. Feeley and Kelly Holcomb. Kolb saw action in only one game during his rookie season. He did not attempt any passes and was simply running out the clock of a blowout.
On November 23, 2008, Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb was benched in the second half in a game against the Baltimore Ravens. McNabb had thrown two interceptions and lost one fumble in the first half. Kolb took over for the rest of the game, but ended up throwing an interception that was returned 108 yards for a touchdown by Ed Reed, an NFL record. The next day, Eagles coach Andy Reid announced that McNabb would return to his starting role the next game.3
