Kevin Green

On May 27, 2008 Kevin Green was executed in Virginia. It was the first execution in Virginia in over two years and the third since the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the legality of Lethal Injection in April, 2008.

Green was convicted of shooting Patricia and Lawrence Vaughn while robbing their convenience store in 1999.

Patricia Vaughn, who was shot four times in the face, died on the scene. Her husband survived the shooting.

Green was first sentenced to death in 2000. In 2001 a court ordered a new trial due to juror problems, after which Green was again sentenced to death.

Green's lawyers had claimed he was mentally unstable when he committed the crime.
