Guide Note: Kenya President, and Party of National Unity leader, Mwai Kibaki announced a deal to share power with Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga. According to reports, Odinga will be named Prime Minister. Violent protests have marred Kenya after suspicions of fraud following the December 27, 2007 presidential election. Although Kibaki was named the winner of the election, much of his party's opposition demanded a recount. With Kenyan military responding to protesters with deadly force, to uphold the election results, thousands of Kenyans were killed, injured, or displaced. The new Coalition Cabinet seeks to end the violence, while mending a divided nation. The cabinet will consist of forty posts, equally divided amongst the Party of Natinal Unity and its opposition. Kenyans remain concerned however, skeptical of Kibaki and Odinga's ability to work together, and questioning the practicality of a 40-seat cabinet.
