Ken Cockrel
Kenneth Cockrel is an official serving as the president of the Detroit City Council. He joined the council in 1998 and was reelected two times, taking on higher posts after each reelection.1 Cockrel is expected to be sworn into the mayor's office as mayor Kwame Kilpatrick resigned on September 4, 2008, due to felony charges. Cockrel announced that he is prepared to become the next mayor as early as January, 2008, upon learning about Kilpatrick's legal troubles.2 3
