Kellen Winslow Jr., a tight end for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL, was hospitalized for three days, starting on October 9, 2008. It was later revealed that Winslow was treated for a staph infection.

Winslow was ill and missed practice in the days before the hospitalization. ProFootballTalk.com reported that the mystery illness was actually hyrdocele, or swelling of the testicles. Over a week after the hospitalization, Winslow revealed that he had a staph infection, that may be a persistent issue among Browns players.
