Keane Menefee

Keane Menefee, city animal control director of the Fort Worth Animal Shelter, was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show segment about puppy mills. Animal Shelters across the country are overcrowded with abandoned pets, and Fort Worth is no exception. For every fifty dogs that are abandoned at the shelter, four are adopted, states Menefee. The remaining dogs are euthanized at a rate of forty plus animals per day or 14,000-17,000 animals yearly. In 2008, the Fort Worth shelter plans to spay and neuter all animals adopted from them at no cost to the adoptive family.
