Julianna Margulies
Julianna Margulies is an Emmy Award winning television and film actress who caught audience attention for her breakthrough role as Nurse Carol Hathaway on the television series ER. With several film and television credits to her name, Margulies can be seen on the new Fox drama Canterbury's Law where she plays the character of Elizabeth Canterbury, a fierce lawyer that will do anything to avoid her home life and win her case.

In the Beginning
Daughter of a ballet dancer and a song writer, Margulies grew up in New York and attended Sarah Lawrence College appearing in several college plays. Soon after college, she attended The Acting Studio in New York City and got her first feature role playing a prostitute in the Steven Seagal film Out for Justice.

Cast on the medical series ER in 1994, Margulies played Nurse Hathaway, who after a relationship with character Doctor Doug Ross, played by George Clooney, attempted suicide. The producers intended for her character to die after the suicide attempt, but decided to keep Nurse Hathaway on the show for what would become a six year run for the actress. Margulies won an Emmy award for her first year on the show and got nominated every year after. Offered $27 million to stay on the show for three more years, Margulies decided to leave the show for new opportunities.
