NHL Career

Stumpel was drafted 40th overall in the 1991 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. He made his NHL debut with the Bruins that same year and split his first few seasons between the Bruins and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins. After six seasons in Boston, Stumpel was traded to the Los Angeles Kings on August 29, 1997. He was dealt back to the Bruins on October 24, 2001, but returned to the Kings on June 20, 2003. Stumpel played in the Czech Republic during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout and entered the free agency after returning to the NHL. He signed with the Florida Panthers on August 17, 2005, and renewed that contract on June 28, 2007, to stay in Florida for an additional three years.
