Abisaab allegedly only treated Burress after being called at home and summoned to the hospital. Under New York State law, any gunshot wound is required to be reported to police. After treating Burress, Abisaab did not call the police as was required. Authorities are also investigating whether any other individuals conspired to keep Burress's gunshot injury from the police.1
