About hCG
HCG is a human hormone produced by pregnant women. A test determining the presence of hCG is used to determine if a woman is pregnant, or as a screening for possible birth defects such as Down syndrome.5 It is also used by some as part of a weight loss regimen.6
HCG stimulates testosterone production. Anabolic steroids imitate testosterone, and must be taken in cycles to stave off testicular atrophy; injecting hCG restarts natural testosterone production after a user has come off a steroid cycle.7 It is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency and is illegal without a prescription.1 4
