Jonathan Plummer

On March 21, 2007, author Terry McMillan filed a complaint against her ex-husband, Johnathan Plummer.

Plummer was reportedly the inspiration behind McMillan's bestselling novel, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, which is about a 40-year-old woman who gets involved with a man half her age. The story mirrors McMillan's marriage to Plummer in 1998: she was in her 40s and Plummer in his early 20s.

In 2005, the couple got divorced when Plummer admitted he was gay.

In the suit, McMillan sued Plummer and his lawyer, Dolores Sargent, for $40 million, claiming Plummer married only for U.S. citizenship, and that the two tried to defame her during the divorce.
