Jon Kitna

Jon Kitna is a quarterback for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. Kitna was placed on injured reserve by the Lions on October 14, 2008, and is not expected to play during the 2008 season.

NFL Career

Kitna played in NFL Europe before being signed to the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 1997. In his first year there, the Seahawks went 9-7 and made the playoffs. In 2001, Kitna signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He took every snap for the Bengals in 2003 and was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year with the Bengals going 8-8. In 2004, Carson Palmer was named the starting quarterback and Kitna served as a mentor to him. Kitna would have to take over in the Bengals' 2006 playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers when Palmer went down with a severe knee injury on the second play from scrimmage.

Kitna signed with the Detroit Lions in 2006 and became the starter. The Lions went 3-13 during the 2006 regular season. Kitna predicted that the Lions would win 10 games in 2007. The Lions got off to a fast start going 6-2 in their first 8 games, but eventually finished 7-9.
