Edwards's endorsement has been coveted by both the Clinton and Obama campaigns. On May 14, 2008, Edwards formally endorsed Senator Obama for the 2008 U.S. presidential race. The endorsement was expected to come during an Obama campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Edwards Endorses Obama

On May 14, 2008, Edwards formally endorsed Barack Obama. The endorsement came during an Obama campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Edwards withdrew from the presidential race on January 30, 2008. Since then, the former North Carolina senator had remained quiet about any potential announcement of support for either Obama or his rival, Hillary Clinton.

The Huffington Post initially reported the rumor which had been leaked by the Obama campaign. Edwards had already said that Obama is the likely nominee in the democratic race.
