Emergency Investigation
An Orange County, California, family court launched an emergency investigation on Sweetin on December 17, 2008, after her ex-husband, Cody Herpin, accused the actress of driving under the influence with their infant daughter in the car. Herpin's lawyer, Robert Benavente, made this statement, "It's primarily alcohol [abuse] but there's also concern regarding methamphetamines." Sweetin and Herpin are in a custody battle for the couple's daughter, Zoie. 5
Following the investigation, a judge ruled that Sweetin could not see her daughter unless she is supervised by one of her parents, with whom she is staying. The judge also ordered Sweetin and Herpin to undergo a drug test before the next hearing.6
Divorce Details
New details from the divorce papers, filed by Sweetin, surfaced on December 7, 2008. Sweetin claimed that Herpin tried to stop her from taking their daughter and other personal effects with her when she left their house. Herpin denied Sweetin's allegations, saying they were "ridiculous." A hearing is scheduled for February 9, 2009.4
Drug Addiction
When Sweetin was 20, she was addicted to methamphetamine. She battled the addiction for two years. After passing out from cardiac arrhythmia, hypothermia and irregular breathing, she finally got help. She spent six weeks at the Promises Rehab Center and became sober. Her addiction is said to have caused the end of her marriage to Shaun Holguin.2
