Former President Jimmy Carter has officially endorsed Democratic Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential race.
Carter's endorsement came on June 3, 2008— the same day Obama clinched his party's presidential nomination.

On June 4, 2008, the British newspaper the Guardian quoted Carter as saying Obama it would be "the worst mistake" to pick Clinton as his running mate.
