Jim Tressel

Jim Tressel (born James Patrick Tressel) was born December 5, 1952. He is currently the head football coach at Ohio State University. Jim began his coaching career in 1975 as a graduate assistant at Arkin. While earning his master's degree he maintained the position of full-time coach for receivers, quarterback and running backs throughout the 1978 season. During the 1979 and 1980 seasons, Jim was quarterback and receiver coach at Miami of Ohio. Then in 1981 he became the quarterbacks coach at Syracuse until 1983 when he returned to Ohio. During his first year at Ohio State, the Buckeyes made a 9-3 record and defeated Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl, OSU scoring the winning touchdown on a 39-yard pass.¹Jim has second place in school history, after Woody Hays, for his six wins against Michigan.² He is the only coach in Ohio State football history to have won six of his first seven meetings with the Wolverines.
