Guide Note:

Jim Kelly was a professional quarterback who played for the Buffalo Bills from 1986-1996. Raised in East Brady, Pennsylvania, Kelly was a high school standout winning all-state honors after throwing for 3,900+ yards and 44 touchdowns in his senior year.

Kelly went on to attend the University of Miami where he was later inducted to the University of Miami Football Hall of Fame. After his successful college career, Kelly was drafted to the Buffalo Bills, but decided instead to play for the USFL's Houston Gamblers.

Two years later after the demise of the USFL, Kelly went to Buffalo. In Buffalo Kelly developed the "no huddle offensive," which was a significant factor in getting the Bills to four-straight Super Bowls. Although he never won a Super Bowl, Kelly was inducted to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2002.

At the induction ceremony he dedicated his award to his son Hunter Kelly, who was diagnosed with Globoid-Cell Leukodystrophy. In 2005, Hunter Kelly passed away due to complications from the disease. In memoriam to his son, Jim Kelly founded Hunter's Hope to raise awareness and funding for research.
