Early Life

Jermaine Terrell Dye was born in Vacaville, California on January 28, 1974. He attended Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville. Then went to college at Cosumnes River College, where he would be drafted by the Atlanta Braves.

Pro Career

Dye was selected in the 17th round of the 1993 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. He would make his major league debut on May 17, 1996. He would then be traded to the Kansas City Royals in 1997. He would spend the next several years developing into a respected power hitter even earning his way onto the American League All-Star Team in 2000 and winning a Gold Glove Award. He would be traded to the Oakland Athletics in 2001, and after several productive years would sign as a coveted free agent with the Chicago White Sox in 2005. Dye would be an intregal member of the 2005 World Series Championship team, and he would later earn his second All-Star selection in 2006.
