Jeremy Hinzman
Jeremy Hinzman is a U.S. Army veteran of the war in Afghanistan, who fled the U.S. in 2004 to avoid serving in Iraq.1 One of an estimated 200 U.S. military deserters seeking refuge in Canada from the Iraq war, Hinzman was deported from Canada on August 13, 2008, after his request for official refugee status was turned down.1
