Guide Note: Princeton University graduate Jennifer Weiner began her writing career in journalism, working for several newspapers and magazines, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Lexington Herald-Leader, and the popular fashion magazine Mademoiselle. After college she opted to head into journalism instead of continuing her education and studying for the Master of Arts in creative writing that many writers go for.

Weiner has actively contributed to the popular "chick lit" genre, and debated over the negative connotations often associated with the term. During her career as an author she has written six books that fall under the "chick lit" category, including Good in Bed, Certain Girls and a collection of short stories entitled The Guy Not Taken. Her book, In Her Shoes was adapted to film in 2005. Despite her flowering career as an author, Weiner still contributes occasionally to the Inquirer.

She currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband Adam, their two daughters and her long-time friend: Wendell the dog.
