NHL Career

Hamilton entered the NHL by signing as a free agent with the New York Islanders on August 6, 2002. He spent the majority of his first two seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League before making his NHL debut with the Islanders in 2003. During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Hamilton played for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League and the Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Super League. He returned to the Islanders after the lockout, where he played 13 games before signing as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks on September 29, 2006. On July 1, 2007, Hamilton signed with the Carolina Hurricanes.
