Jason Johnson
Major League Baseball player Jason Johnson is a right-handed pitcher currently playing for the
Los Angeles Dodgers. After being drafted by the
Pittsburgh Pirates in 1992, Johnson spent five years in the minors before making his MLB debut in 1997. Johnson went on to play with the
Tampa Bay Rays, the
Baltimore Orioles, the
Detroit Tigers, the
Cleveland Indians, the
Boston Red Sox and the
Cincinnati Reds before signing with the Dodgers in early 2008.

Overcoming Adversity
Jason Johnson is diabetic and is an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. In 2002, Johnson was the co-recipient of the Tony Conigliaro Award, which is awarded each year by the Baseball Writers Association to players who show demonstrate strength and perseverance in overcoming obstacles or handicaps.1
