Early Life

Jacob Edward Peavy was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 31, 1981. He would attend high school at St. Paul's Episcopal School. Where he garnered Major League interest. He would be offered a spot on the Auburn University baseball team. But Peavy would decline, deciding to pursue a career in Major League Baseball.

Pro Career

Peavy would be drafted by the San Diego Padres during the 15th round in the 1999 Major League Baseball draft. He would make his Major League debut with the Padres on June 22, 2002. In 2004, Peavy would establish himself as the team's ace. He would sign a four year contract with the Padres in 2005. He would help lead the the Padres to the post season in 2005. In 2006, he would be named as a captain representing Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. In 2007, he would complete the rare feat of winning the Pitching triple crown with most wins, strikeouts and lowest earned run average. For his exceptional season he would be unanimous rewarded the Cy Young Award for 2007. He is widely considered one of the premiere pitchers in the game today.
