American actor Matthew Fox portrays medical doctor and leader of the Oceanic survivors "Jack Shephard" on the ABC drama Lost. Outside of Lost he played notable roles in We Are Marshall and Vantage Point. His most recent film work includes a starring role in the feature Speed Racer.

Raised on a horse ranch, Fox first wanted to work as a stockbroker, then tried his hand at modeling before deciding to move Los Angeles to begin his acting career.

Dr. Jack Shephard

Jack Shephard is a Los Angeles based spinal doctor who boards Oceanic Flight 815 in Sydney, Australia. He went to find his father who passed away during a drinking binge in Australia. During the flight home, the plane went down somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Now Shephard must care for and lead the group of survivors home without succumbing to the same fate as his father.
